News > August 28, 2009 – Sheffield Chamber of Commerce says Microblade "Talks the Talk" The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce recognized Microblade and its employees for taking advantage of the foreign language training programs offered by the South Yorkshire Trade Center. The 10 week course was taught at Microblade with employees learning the language skills while making up the time spent in classes with additional work hours. General Manager Tony Egley has said that the skills learned have already paid dividends; Tony recently called a steel supplier in Germany to place an order and his regular contact was unavailable. His newly learned German language skills allowed him to discuss and place Microblade’s steel order with the German steel supplier with ease. Teresa Glossop, who is responsible for invoicing, also learned German. Dermot O’Farrell, Sales Manager, and Lorraine Norcliffe, who is responsible for Inside Sales, both learned Italian. They are all able to assist Microblade’s customers in “their” native language both with verbal and written language skills. When you sell international you have to talk international. And Microblade speaks the language of international trade! |
