Kinetic’s growth has always been customer dictated and this 84” Blanchard is no exception. The dramatic growth of our steel mill sales required a high powered grinder for rough grinding of long steel mill knives. Many of our OEM’s were telling us that they needed a reliable source of grinding their machine frames.

So Kinetic’s Vice-President of Operations, Cash Masters, started looking for a machine to handle the needs of our customers. He found it in a warehouse in Chicago. New in 1970 the machine was rebuilt by Blanchard in 1999 and did not see much service after the 1999 rebuilding. Our philosophy is that a properly rebuilt machine is better then a new machine as the casting has stabilized and we can have features added that are not always available from the machine builder – and sometimes the machine we want is no longer made! The search for a machine can take a year for one of these larger machines – always time well spent.

This 84” Blanchard has a 150 H.P main spindle motor with oversize spindle bearings; we have more then enough horsepower to quickly remove stock and hold tolerances. The grinder has an 84” magnetic chuck and can swing parts 96” in diameter inside the water guards. Maximum part height is 24”.

And the last thing done to the machine was to give it our standard “showroom” paint job. Pride in your machine results in pride in the products you make on it.
