News > November 2006 – Microblade installs 42” Diameter Blanchard Grinder With more tissue and towel converters using Microblade’s “Jumbo” (810mm & 870mm) and “Meter” log saw blades Microblade needed to upgrade their grinding capability to quickly grind these larger diameter blades. The task for choosing the machine fell to Cash Masters, Kinetic’s Vice-President of Operations and a Microblade Director. After carefully researching available machine options, Cash decided to purchase a used 42” diameter Blanchard Grinder. He was not looking for a pretty machine; he was looking for one with a good casting and high horsepower motor. After locating the machine he wanted he sent the machine for a complete refurbishment in Rockford, Illinios. Why purchase this used machine instead of new grinder? You can ask any machine builder and they will tell you that the older a machine casting is the more stable it is. Microblade’s customers require tight tolerances so stability is a must in a grinder. Rebuilding an existing machine allowed Cash to have it remanufactured to his specifications. These high powered grinders are not available from stock so Cash was able to get exactly what he wanted, with tolerances that met or exceeded new machine tolerances, faster then ordering a new machine. |
